In 1987, when Kim Mailey started as a new Investment Advisor with McLeod Young Weir, he could never have imagined what the future would have in store. An incredible experience, career and life lay before him, but back in 1987, it was only beginning.

On November 23, 2017, Kim Mailey – now Senior Wealth Advisor and Director at Scotia Wealth Management – walked across the stage at Sutton Place Hotel in Vancouver, BC to the applause of Scotiabank dignitaries and fellow honourees. It was a time to celebrate his 30 year anniversary of continuous service to ScotiaMcLeod, and a time to pause for reflection.

Kim reflects back…

In 1987, Kim joined the full service investment dealer McLeod Young Weir. This was a time when Canadian banks, investment dealers, insurance and trust companies were independent “separate pillars”, but this was soon to change! As these regulations crumbled, the Bank of Nova Scotia purchased McLeod Young Weir (creating ScotiaMcLeod Inc). It was the first Canadian investment dealer to be 100% owned by a Canadian bank. Kim now had new business cards with the red flying “S” logo!

Kim’s early years at ScotiaMcLeod’s Vancouver branch were remarkable. He was a frequent recipient of corporate awards, and received the great honour of being a nominee for the annual Investment Dealer Association of Canada’s Award of Distinction. Time ticked by, and Kim continued to earn respect for his conduct. He ran his wealth management practice at the highest possible industry standards, guided by his early ScotiaMcLeod managers and mentors David Rodger, Hamish Angus, and Alex Besharat.

Kim looks forward…

In 1994, Kim Mailey merged his wealth management practice with Victoria Rogers’. Their partnership formed Mailey Rogers Group, and in 2002 when wealth advisor Brie Fraser joined the group, magic was made! Today, Mailey Rogers Group can boast their rightful claim as one of Canada’s most prestigious and trusted wealth management groups.

Mailey Rogers Group is proud of Kim Mailey’s great achievement and the great work this team has done. Congratulations, Kim, on the incredible milestone of 30 fantastic years!
